A naturally gifted pilot, Kat quickly gained in experience, becoming one of the best Viper pilots in ''Galactica''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s air wing. Eventually, Kat came to rival even her own mentor, Starbuck herself, by the time that ''Galactica''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Viper wing was engaged in a heavy war of attrition with Cylon Raiders while protecting an asteroid mining operation.
