Preemptive Block?

I'd hate to block somebody before they "did" anything, but having a userid that is a numeric number nearly identical to a handful of other accounts that I have recently blocked is awfully suspicious (especially as it was created at almost the same time as a vandal account). Would a pre-emptive block be advisable in this case, or should we give the benefit of the doubt ("assume good faith") in this case? --Steelviper 09:47, 1 May 2006 (CDT)

I share your caution, but I think it's common sense that good-faith users don't register with meaningless decimal strings as their usernames. Since you raised the concern, I'll leave it up to you until he offends. --Peter Farago 10:08, 1 May 2006 (CDT)
