What type of category should comics have?--The Merovingian (C - E) 13:33, 30 March 2006 (CST)
- I think they should be separate from books, but I'm content to leave them here in the short term. --Peter Farago 14:10, 30 March 2006 (CST)
- Perhaps it should just be renamed to "print" or something similar instead of splitting it?

- I don't think so. Comics and novels are fundamentally different in several important ways:
- Comics are both a visual and a written medium; novels are purely written.
- Comics typically present short installments of story arcs, novels are typically longer and self-contained
- Comics have numerous authorship credits, including writing, pencils, inks, colors and letters; novels typically have at most two authors who share credit equally.
- Additionally, "Print" as a category is in some ways too broad - it would include non-continuity works like the complete guides and magazine issues. --Peter Farago 14:58, 30 March 2006 (CST)
- Unless "Print" was a parent cat to the books, comics, magazines, etc categories. --Steelviper 15:04, 30 March 2006 (CST)
- That would be logical, and probably harmless, but I'm hard pressed to see the need for such a category. --Peter Farago 15:10, 30 March 2006 (CST)
