This page covers moves and renames of any page in any namespace, whether it be an article or a Battlestar Wiki policy page.
Rationale
Unfortunately, due to the work of a vandal who moved articles to nonsense names, Battlestar Wiki's management team was forced to enact a policy preventing regular users to move pages. While administrators have the power to move pages, we feel that page moves or renames are not administrator-level feats. This policy covers two items: how to request a page move and how to obtain move permissions.
Requirements
Any user meeting the following requirements may be elligible for move privileges:
- User has amassed at least 100 productive edits, as determined by the the on-wiki edit counter.
- A non-productive edit is anything relating to adding vandalism or nonsense to any portion of the wiki.
- User has been a contributor for more than 3 days, as determined by the log page containing a list of users and when they created the account.
Procedure
To request a page or pages be moved:
- Add {{move}} to the top of the page in question. Be sure to include the new name the article should be moved to. Save the page.
- Make a note on the article's discussion page on why you believe the article should be renamed or moved.
To request move permissions:
- Add your request to the talk page on page moves. While it isn't necessary to provide a reason for your request (all requests are automatically granted should you meet the requirements), a reason would be appreciated.
- Should a user or users wish to contest or offer comment regarding a user's request, they are more than welcome to do so, as so long as they provide evidence for their views.
