Hello.
Zahir is the name. Well, not my real name, but my nom-de-net
What to say about myself? Well, I'm a sagittarius born in the year of the boar (make of that what you will). I live in Los Angeles. My BA is in theatre arts. My fiancee died in November, 2005 (she designed my sigil which you see) and no, I am not recovered from that. I am a fraternal twin.
The original Battlestar Galactica was for me a fun piece of fluff with some nice touches. Having been a science fiction fan most of my life (watched Star Trek when it first aired--ohdearjustgaveawaymyage) it was some much-enjoyed entertainment amid a desert. The interim since then has seen a much higher standard arise, as a direct result of shows like Blake's Seven and Farscape as well as Babylon 5 and Firefly. The new BG is meeting that standard very nicely indeed.
One other thing to mention. Well, two. I am in particular a fan of space opera--starting way back with Doc Smith's Lensmen series and up through David Brin's Uplift, Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga and Alister Reynolds' very impressive trilogy-plus-one. I am writing my own in fact. Wish me luck!
