In the novelization of the miniseries, the unnamed co-pilot aboard Colonial Heavy 798 is given a name: Eduardo.
The actor who played this character, Biski Gugushe, also portrays two other characters in the Re-imagined Series: a reporter named "Eick" (ostensibly named for series co-executive producer David Eick), and a second reporter, Sekou Hamilton.
Humorously, in the DVD commentary for the miniseries, Ron D. Moore and David Eick point out that Gugushe is one of the best extras they have, but he got no speaking lines whatsoever for the role of the pilot. They jokingly quipped of the actor's non-verbal skill, in that the actor always looks as if he wants to say something while in the cockpit, but always thinks better of it and keeps silent.
The novelization of the miniseries has other marked differences from the aired or sourced content of the series, such as Natasi and Jane Cally. As a result, these differences makes the novelization a separate continuity from the Re-imagined Series canon.
