Paramedic Ishay is a medic serving aboard battlestar Galactica. One of the many resource shortfalls of Galactica's ongoing logistical nightmare is a shortage of medical personnel. Major Cottle is the only trained physician on board (perhaps in all of the fleet), supplemented by a handful of medics. As a result, Ishay has been required to step up to perform medical proceedures she wouldn't normally be expected to perform.

Biography

Subsequent to the isolation of the Galactica from the rest of the fleet, the absence of Doctor Cottle Cottle aboard the Galactica, and the attempted assassination of Commander Adama by Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, Commander Adama's life was left in the hands of Galactica's paramedics. Despite never having performed an operation in her life, Colonel Tigh ordered Ishay to operate on Commander Adama, after it was clear that no other aide was coming, and without immediate action, the Commander would be lost (Scattered). Ishay's emergency thoracic surgery stabilized the Commander's condition, however, it was not until the intervention of Doctor Cottle, with Ishay's assistance, that the Commander's internal bleeding could be stopped (Fragged).

Ishay speaks with an accent similar to Gaius Baltar's, which may be a local characteristic of one of the Twelve Colonies.

Notes

Kerry Norton is also the wife of actor Jamie Bamber (Lee Adama). Her on-air "accent" is, of course, that of United Kingdom citizens. Her husband is also British, but disguises his accent when portraying Captain Adama.
