While Quality Articles can be edited for modifications at any time, it is usually good practice to discuss any desired edits on the article's talk page.

The process shall be as follows:

# A user or users request a modification of the Quality Article.  Typically, this request is accompanied by a reason as well as a list of modifications that the user believes needs to be done.

# The issue is then brought up for discussion amongst users.

#* The users may wish to create a subpage for the suggested edit. The format of the namespace should be akin to: [[Article Title/Suggested edit]].
#* Basically, click on "View source" of the protected article, and copy that text into the new subpage.
# Once an edit fitting the Quality Article criteria is decided by consensus, notify an admin. The admin, or someone an admin delegates, will then:
## copy the new text into the article;
## add {{tl|quality modified}}, removing the {{tl|quality article}} tag;
## save the changes.
# Should the modified Quality Article remain undisputed for up to a period of one week, the tag is then changed to {{tl|quality article}}.

This project is to jump start articles for Featured Article status, so during Featured Article selection, we can vote on the page and hash our ideas why it should be the next Featured Article.

At present, there are 16 quality articles, and 25 potential quality articles out of a total of 5,255 articles.

Criteria for a Quality Article

A quality article should have the following attributes:

The following do not qualify as Quality Article candidates:

  • Stubs
  • Talk pages
  • Anything in the Battlestar Wiki, Quotes, Sources, or User namespace
  • Past, Current, or Future Featured/Quality articles that have been marked.

Identifying a Potential Quality Article

Quality Articles should be identified as such, so that a master list can be created.

Essentially, this would be done in the following way:

  1. A contributor tags an article page with {{quality candidate}}, then adds a note to the corresponding article's talk page explaining their reasoning.
  2. Involved members of the community will then discuss the candidate article. Typically, they should be as critical as possible. (See Wikipedia's Peer Review for how it should be done.)
  3. Create the discussion page by clicking on () and then save {{subst:QATALK|Article}} on the blank page.
  4. Once the consensus is that the article is of potential quality, then the discussion will evolve into modifying the article in such a way as to polish the article so as to achieve full "Quality Article" status.
  5. Once this is done, the article will be changed to {{quality article}}.
  6. The discussion will then be archived and the {{qa diff|Article|DiffID Number}} tag will be placed so the discussion can be tracked for when it received QA status.
