Sorry kiddies. The Hasari are the gold cloaked and masked figures seen with the Cylons in The Living Legend. An official Galactica manual was published in 1980 and sold through Starlog and at cons. It identified these beings as the Hasari. Obviously they are not "whale like" in any way and they are not "Cylon civilians". Cylons have no need of civilians and if they did they would resemble themselves (reptiles) and would not have human shaped heads.
