Looks like you're making nice headway! Good job! Just a thought though... feel free to adapt the pages to suit the language/culture/grammar that you're localizing to. There are times when the word choices in English would make for awkward translations if you kept everything word for word. Feel free to change the wording, and even the meaning, if necessary. One area in particular that will need adapting is the standards and conventions, which were designed only with English in mind. If there are different rules that would make sense in Portuguese, please don't let the English hold you back. Ideally they'll eventually be sorted out by consensus, although right now you're a consensus of one, so it'll resemble a bit more of a monarchy. No worries. All it takes for somebody to get a say is to edit. --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 08:26, 27 December 2007 (CST)

Welcome to Battlestar Wiki!

Greetings, Syrin, and welcome to Battlestar Wiki! I hope you enjoy your stay with us and am looking forward to your contributions to the Wiki! Why not begin by telling us a bit about yourself on your own user page?

As you may already know, Battlestar Wiki covers all the Battlestar Galactica series from past to present, in addition to authorized merchandise. Presently, we don't cover fan fiction, but our sister-site, Battlestar Pegasus (which will soon open) shall do so. We're also not really a discussion site, but we do have an ever growing Battlestar Forum where people can discuss the various shows and non-BSG topics as well!

To get started on the wiki, we suggest that you check out our tutorial, experiment in the sandbox (a test editing area for those learning wiki code), and review some of our basic policies (which have important differences from other SF wikis).

Of course, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you are more than welcome to bring them up at the Chiefs' noticeboard (which is frequented by the administrators of the Wiki) and at the Galactipedian's Quorum (which is the hub for contributors, who are called "Galactipedians").

Furthermore, if you don't wish to see the ads, then please consider upgrading your account to a paid membership, which costs only $10 USD a year and helps support the wiki financially.

Thank you for joining us! Hope to see you soon! --OrionFour 19:30, 20 December 2007 (CST)

Thanks for creating a user page!

I know I should be used to them by now, but red links still pain me, and user pages are something that I can't really do anything about. It's nice for users to share a little bit about themselves (and it makes those blasted red links go away). Feel free to ask if you need any help, but it looks like you've got a pretty good handle on basic wiki-code. --Steelviper 20:18, 20 December 2007 (CST)

Thanks for the welcome message. I'm actually new to his whole wiki-world, but I'm hoping to learn a lot from this community.--Syrin 20:39, 20 December 2007 (CST)
Welcome from me as well. I replied to your e-mail by (...surprise...) e-mail, but immediately after sending it I realized it's probably better to continue that discussion at BW:CN. And Spence, I too, have a tendency to mistrust red links, even if I know they're legitimate editors. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 06:04, 21 December 2007 (CST)
If I had a dime for every time I got mistaken for Spencerian... (don't get me wrong, it's a flattering person to be confused with, I just wonder sometimes if people think that there's just one of us). --Steelviper 18:20, 22 December 2007 (CST)
Well I know there's two of you ;) (or three actually, if you count in Serenity as well). --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 07:39, 23 December 2007 (CST)

Poish disambigs

You might want to change "Video game" in "(2003 Video Game)" to the Portugese word for "video game". In fact, you're pretty much free to change all these suffixes (TOS, RDM, etc.) to whatever makes sense in your language, although it's probably best for clarity to leave RDM and TOS intact ;) --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 16:16, 22 December 2007 (CST)

Thanks for the heads up. --Syrin 17:27, 22 December 2007 (CST)

Undoing

In light of your recent blanking of the Portugese BW:SAC page, I'd like to point out that all old revisions are still available and that your work hasn't been lost. You can click the History tab above a page to view old revisions, and undo them by clicking the Undo links next to them. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 08:52, 23 December 2007 (CST)

Translating Progress, Thoughts

--Steelviper 08:26, 27 December 2007 (CST)

I did change the SAC page a bit, but with time I plan on changing it even more. I usually check the Spanish and German pages to see if there's anything I need to add and/or subtract from the pt. version. Monarchy? Naaa, I'd say it's more of a dictatorship now - with me as the supreme ruler (then again, I'm also the only subject so the impact isn't that big. Still, it has a nice ring to it.) ;). --Syrin 09:14, 27 December 2007 (CST)
And for templates. you can change the variable names also to your own lanuguage. Shane (T - C - E) 08:41, 27 December 2007 (CST)
Didn't know I could do that. I've updated the pages. Thanks. --Syrin 09:14, 27 December 2007 (CST)
