Sorry guys. These are the Hasari. There was a Galactica  manual published in 1980. The one sold in the back of Starlog. It identified these creatures as Hasari. Hasari are not whale like creatures as they have been described by people who are too lazy to do their research. Man, kids are lazy.

I just saw these guys in the episode. I didn't hear a canonical name for them, so I was going to give them the name of the "Cylon LGF" descriptive term.
