Latest revision as of 01:58, 11 April 2020

I heard somewhere (could be a podcast or somewehere on the wiki) that "So say we all" was an ad-lib by Edward James Olmos. Should this be added to the article? --Moo 20:58, 14 February 2007 (CST)

I've never heard it. Find it, add it, cite it, and you'll be golden. Shane (T - C - E) 21:11, 14 February 2007 (CST)
I think you might have misunderstood it. The way I know it, he didn't come up with the saying itself, but might have contributed to its popularity. The adlib is the repeated use after the ceremony at the end of the Miniseries. If you look at the crowd's faces, you'll see that some of them react slightly confused at first, but then go along with it. --Serenity 05:27, 15 February 2007 (CST)
I don't recall that in a podcast transcribed here (and a search for "So say we all" in the podcasts came up with zilch), but we don't have podcasts for a substantial portion of season one, and we also don't have it for the miniseries commentary. It sounds like you might check the miniseries commentary (on the DVD) if Serenity right. --Steelviper 06:48, 15 February 2007 (CST)
You're right... he didn't ad-lib "so say we all", but he ad-libbed parts of his speech in the miniseries. "Commander Adama's final speech to his crew (including his repeated use of the phrase "So say we all!" to rally them to action) was largely improvised by Edward James Olmos." Missing commentary transcripts

We done have transcripts of the Miniseries? mmm Im not sure if the UK dvd version even HAS a commentary on it. If it does then i might have to transcribe it lol. We cant be doinging with missing info here :D --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 07:12, 15 February 2007 (CST)

Unfortunately not. The commentary is on the US DVD. A transcript would be cool though. --Serenity 07:19, 15 February 2007 (CST)

We haven't hosted the transcripts for the "missing" (i.e. non-online) podcasts/commentary for copyright reasons. We felt we could easily argue that the publicly posted podcasts are fair game to transcribe (since they're already out there), but the policy thus far is only to quote relevant sections of the ones not posted online. --Steelviper 07:39, 15 February 2007 (CST)
How does Galactica station and other bsg sites get away with episode transcripts then? Is there not someone we can contact about it? --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 07:48, 15 February 2007 (CST)
To be clear, Galactica Station, Sad Geezer, and other sites don't have permission for these episode transcripts. If Universal / SciFi Channel really wanted to, they could force these websites to shutdown, but that wouldn't be in the fan's best interest. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 09:08, 17 February 2007 (CST)
I erm, acquired the other season 1 commentaries, but not the Miniseries one. I wondered about the episode transcripts too though. For clarification, someone could contact Mrs. Ron maybe. Not sure if Bradley Thompson can help with this. --Serenity 07:51, 15 February 2007 (CST)
The truth is, they're very likely operating without permission, which is a situation we don't want to get involved with. We do have the contact info of someone at Scifi we could ask, but so far all responses have been negative. I'd rather not put our current supply of podcast transcripts in jeopardy to gain those few we don't have, but if the consensus wants to ask about it we could do so. --Steelviper 08:16, 15 February 2007 (CST)

We already tried something like this for episode transcripts. I'm with SV - let's let sleeping dogs lie. --April Arcus 12:13, 15 February 2007 (CST)
