John Mann (September 18, 1962—November 20, 2019) was the Canadian actor who portrayed the characters Linden and Jackson Spencer in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mann later followed his career into music in the 1990s, becoming the lead singer, guitarist and co-songwriter of Spirit of the West, a Canadian alternative rock band whose biggest successes were "And if Vencie is Sinking" and "Political." In addition to fame acquired by the classic frosh week anthem "Home for a Rest," he released three solo albums in the 2000s and 2010s.
He began his acting career in 1981 with a small character in the romantic movie Return to the Blue Lagoon (written by Leslie Stevens). As an actor, his television work included stints on Intelligence, Bionic Woman, Da Vinci's Inquest, Haunted, and Dark Angel.
Mann passed away following the early onset of Alzheimer's disease at age 57.[1]
