Adama's father had served in the Colonial military with [[Magus]], and had saved his life more than once. When his parents died at a young age, Adama was raised on [[The Twelve Colonies (TOS)|Caprica]] before joining the Academy at the age of 15. After graduating at the start of the [[Cylon War]], he became a pilot on [[Magus]]' ship, the battlestar ''[[Galactica (Video Game)|Galactica]]''. Magus became a father-figure to him, and Adama fell in love with his daughter, [[Iphigenia]].

Along with Iphi, his wingmen were Magus' son [[Paulus]], and [[Garris Cain|Lt. Garris Cain]].

Cylon scrolls refer led them to believe that Adama will lead the Cylons to discover the [[Thirteenth Tribe]]; as such, he drew much interest from the [[Imperious Leader]], Lord [[Erebus]].

The "Battlestar Galactica" [[video game]] has its own continuity as a result of its association with the failed [[Battlestar Galactica (SDS)|Original Series continuation revival]] in 2001.
