== An old question about hits counter from Enabran ==
== Aspect ratio frakup fixed ==

Hi Joe,<br/>[[user:Enabran|Enabran]] asked some time ago if it is possible to retrieve the hits counter. I tried to install a stable version of [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:HitCounters Extension:HitCounters] on the [[:fr:|French wiki]]. It seems to work. You'll need to run an <tt>maintenance/update.php</tt> after installing the extension with the following in the <tt>LocalSettings.php</tt> file
I did a batch job on the pictures and re-uploaded them. Looks better now and I should have seen that before. Unfortunately, I didn't have the original bmps anymore, so the picture quality suffered a little bit. But in most cases, I don't think you can tell without a direct comparison. Better than from an AVI source in any case. -- [[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 23:41, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

wfLoadExtension( 'HitCounters' );

It should keep the old values. As you wish, but I think there will be a happy, happy editor ;-) Cheers! --[[User:LIMAFOX76|LIMAFOX76]] ([[User talk:LIMAFOX76|talk]]) 13:57, 3 June 2020 (PDT)
I was about to swap out the FA, but noticed that apparently I don't have to wear that hat. Thought we could go ahead with of of the other two picked out on the debate page. --01:44, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

:: I can see the hit counter back on the french wiki - can someone please add it to the german wiki? [[User:Enabran|Enabran]] ([[User talk:Enabran|talk]]) 14:23, 14 November 2020 (PST)
Hey thanks again for fixing my username's. I'm really new, so I'll try to keep this short and reserve any questions for something that can be answered by the websites documentation.

:: Installed. Unfortunately, it didn't retain the old numbers, and there was no way to recover those. -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] 16:21, 2 January 2021 (PST)
Regarding ways to contribute, I really like adding/upgrading the Wiki's images... I think it really helps bring the encyclopedia alive. I'm curious about copyright's, is it okay to Photoshop images to remove logo's, names, etc. to make the image more presentable for the Wiki provided I disclose credit for the source? How far does "fair use" go? When should I ask for permission to use an image? Also, if you see the this [http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Daru_Mozu[article]] you may notice I replaced the image for the Daru Mozu (the top right image above ship specs). I saved it the image as .png with a transparent background... I think this looks really nice and would like to do it for all the ships... But I figured I should probably check with someone as they may have different preferences. Another thing I've been doing is fixing broken links on the website using a this [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/532 [Firefox extension]] is this a valid effort? Or is there some bot or something that checks for this. In summary, I just wanted to check with someone else to make sure I'm making helpful contributions... If there is any projects that need help, I'm all good for that too, maybe something close to the stuff I've just talked about? Thanks a lot. --[[User:Galjamspe|Galjamspe]] 01:58, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

:The link checker could have double problems. Articles not created come up as bad links. URL that goto sites might the only use. If you have access tot he Zioc images -- go for it. Upload new versions and replace them. If there officially from Zioc, and the source is from Zoic, go for it. The removing text and logo is a problem if it comes from a TV source because it then becomes a problem.. how did you get it? Where did this image come from? etc. Text is also there for a reason.. I am guessing to tell a plot line to keep us imformed. Joe will explain more, but that is my take on it. :) [[User:Shane|Shane]] ([[User_Talk:Shane|talk]]) 02:04, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
::: oh, thank you! Any number is better than no number ;-) [[User:Enabran|Enabran]] ([[User talk:Enabran|talk]]) 00:51, 3 January 2021 (PST)
: The issue with saving images as PNGs is that certain browsers *cough* IE *cough* have problems rendering PNGs properly. As for "fair use", the issue is that it isn't a carte blanche thing, which is why we don't have episode galleries (which are technically illegal) and we've been careful in what pictures we add. However, if you do have access to Zoic pictures, then by all means add them. We'll take those over most screenshots any day of the week... However, it's best to keep the Zoic logos intact on them, just to cover our asses, as it were. -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] - [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]] 04:20, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
:::: There is one way: Hit the refresh button x times to gain x counters :-D [[User:Enabran|Enabran]] ([[User talk:Enabran|talk]]) 01:00, 3 January 2021 (PST)
:: The image I uploaded of the Daru Mozu came up fine in IE7... I do know from past experiences that IE6 does have the problems you mentioned. I don't know how many people are still on IE6, I know I waited a little while before I updated just because when the new browser came out it didn't quite have full compatibility with some sites. Hopefully were talking about the same issue here... If there is something wrong on IE7 then do tell. As long as most current browsers support it, I think it still might be worth considering, completely up to everyone else though... I for sure understand the need to support all visitors to the site (no matter what browser they may be using). Also, should I keep the image as high-res as possible (original dimensions) so long as the resolution isn't too crazy? I for one really like to be able to zoom up and see detail on posted images. Back to the Photoshoping of images, for example there is a great image off of [http://www.leestringer.com/Images/Print/Galactica_Fleet_11x17_150dpi_v003.jpg Leestringer.com] that i'd like to replace as the main image for this [http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/The_Fleet_(RDM)[article]]. But I'm not sure about including the text at the bottom of the image. Thanks again for the help. --[[User:Galjamspe|Galjamspe]] 05:47, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

:::There is a small image tutorial [[Battlestar Wiki:Tutorial (Images)|here]]. Basically it's <nowiki>[[Image:blah.jpg|thumb|(left/right)|caption]]</nowiki>. High-res pictures are fine, but if they're like 5000*3000 it might be better to upload two versions. As for photoshops. That one is still ok, but I think that they should resemble the tv images as closely as possible, when used main image. A lot of those CGI renders look pretty artificial, detail notwithstanding. Alright as additional image, but not so as main image. Just in my opinion. -- [[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 06:18, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

== TOS/G80 unproduced scripts ==

Greetings fellow Colonial!

I'm interested in assisting in regards to the summary pages of unproduced scripts of the 1978 series and its follow-up in 1980, but there are a few problems in this regard. First, it appears the wiki hasn't been updated in quite some time regarding these scripts (so I'm unsure if this is an active project or not). Second, the link to the Battlestar Pegasus page is dead. I have a few scripts printed out from the '78 series a few years ago, but I'd need access to the other scripts (especially The Beta Pirates, which I've wanted to read for many yahrens). Is this wiki still active, and can I assist? {{unsigned|Ninth Lord of Kobol}}

: Hello! Yes, the wiki is still somewhat active. I mostly maintain the English one at this point, with assistance of two other admins: [[User:Enabran]] of the [[:de:|German language Wiki]] and [[User:LIMAFOX76]] of the [[:fr:|French language Wiki]].

: As to the scripts, I have digitized PDF copies of the ones I've collected over the yahrens. I just need to re-upload them again (I'll upload them to the Wiki directly and update the links to the specific episodes). I'll start with "[[The Beta Pirates]]" and go from there. :-) -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] 14:22, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

== Battlestar Wiki's new skin ==

Hi Joe,<br/>I hope you're well. I discovered the new skin you implanted for BW. Is that normal if everything is still in a white background even if you modified the css page to adapt? Thanks for your answer. Cheers! --[[User:LIMAFOX76|LIMAFOX76]] ([[User talk:LIMAFOX76|talk]]) 06:24, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

: Howdy! Things are OK -- I hope things are good for you! For the background, it is adaptable, and there are three options if you click on the wheel/gear icon on the upper menu bar: Auto, Light and Dark. You might be on "light" or "auto," so if you click on Dark you should get the "darker" red theme.

: I'm trying to figure out what to do for the "light" theme (so I've left it alone for now), and might try something that invokes the cream/light brown paperwork from the series.

: I'm tweaking the theme as I go as well, so if you have any thoughts or suggestions, let me know. Cheers! -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] 23:38, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
:: Things are good for me as well, thanks! Regarding the skin, I chose the Dark theme, yet it is still white. Did I miss something in my parameters??
:: Small update, it seems that the dark and light themes are linked to the browser main color theme. I managed to change it in Edge and Firefox but I had to purge the cache. If I switch the browsers' theme back to light, it comes back to the light mode. --[[User:LIMAFOX76|LIMAFOX76]] ([[User talk:LIMAFOX76|talk]]) 20:54, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

::: I loved the old cream-coloured theme developed by Paul Gu. I don't think that theme would work in the current versions of Media Wiki, though. But if you have the CSS of that light theme, maybe we can use the same colours in the current Citizen based theme? -- [[User:CylonU87|CylonU87]] [[User talk:CylonU87|I don't feel like a copy.]] 20:28, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
:  For the "light" version, I was aiming towards the cream color, to mimic the paperwork in the series. We had something like that for the "Case Orange" update blog back in the day. -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] 03:45, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

== Old WikiFrakr content and other language wikis ==

WiiFrakr had some fantastic and hilarious content back in the day. Sadly this was lost in time. Is there a way to restore those pages back if a backup is available? Maybe instead of a separate sub-wiki, those pages can live under a namespace on the English Wiki.
Similarly, the other language wikis which existed are lost. Is it possible to restore them too?  -- [[User:CylonU87|CylonU87]] [[User talk:CylonU87|I don't feel like a copy.]] 20:39, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
: I believe a backup is available, but I haven't gotten to it, as I haven't prioritized it. As to the other language wikis, I don't believe there was much in the way of content, beyond the German and French versions that were restored. -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] 03:42, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

== PawPatroler ==

Hi. I saw you posted on his talk page last month and I just wanted to tell you he has been permabanned from dozens of wikis for disruptive editing and emailing users about wiki bans. [https://nookipedia.com/wiki/User%20talk:PawPatroler More information can be found in one wiki he was permabanned from]. I’d just banhammer him. :Appreciate your reaching out to me on this. Along with fellow admins from other language versions, we've found much the same regarding bans elsewhere. That said, we'll refrain from the "banhammer" as there have no disruptive edits here as of yet, beyond the initial message. == Quorum images and other information. ==

Hi,

Just added images from "[[Fragged]]" concerning Quorum delegates, at least the ones that correspond to those from "[[Colonial Day]]". And expanded on [[Oswyn Eriku]]'s page, something I picked up concerning Unnamed Delegate #3 and also something to possibly update the [[List of pilots]] page. - [[User:CoreyDanian|Corey &#34;Shadow&#34; Danian]] ([[User talk:CoreyDanian|talk]]) 07:47, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

:Awesome Corey! I expect there to be discontinuities as production didn't keep tabs on these types of things, particularly as the show went on. We should note any contradictions, particularly as background or bit actors tend to play different characters throughout the run of the show. (Not to mention the same people tend to be reused throughout the prequels.)
