| No. Ron Moore & Co. know about this thing and we're starting up the Second Awards; we just started this week, and our placeholder website for the 2nd awards is up here. More news to follow. Please leave it as it is for now. Plus, quite possibly the entire online community is involved and it really is an "awards show", just one held online.--The Merovingian (C - E) 14:28, 24 March 2006 (CST) | | No. Ron Moore & Co. | Merv is an offical spokes personn of the GTA's. He has no neatuaility here, so the article must be removed; reason: self-promotion. The website itself is not even up yet. | :::Perhaps it would be best if there was just one page for awards and then a subpage or just a link to the GTA site rather than posting fan stuff here? --Mercifull 03:19, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| :::Looks like theres already an awards page, i think a small passage could be mentioned about the golden toaster awards there with a link to the site rather than showing all the results here. Its certainly not a recognised awards "ceremony". --Mercifull 03:21, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| ::::I think that at the topic is sufficiently notable in fandom to make sure that a listing of the winners is maintained. Currently, I think this may be the only place a list is kept. As soon as the "official" site is up, it'd probably be best if we turned the updating and maintenance of winners over to them (for risk of redundancy) and mostly just link to results, etc. --Steelviper 07:49, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| :::::Agree. I don't see a significant conflict of interest here. --April Arcus 09:42, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

| ::::::When GalacticaActual was destroyed months after the first awards, the GTA leaders had to scramble through old computer files to try to find a complete list of old winners. When I established one here, they were very thankful. --The Merovingian (C - E) 11:41, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| :::::::I hope you dont mind me playing with it a little. I bolded some parts, unbolded others and changed the awards to sub headers so they show in a table of contents? --Mercifull 11:49, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

| == Citations...? ==
| |
|
| |
| I know this is going to be difficult, but could we have citations per policy? -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 13:35, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| :Well that's a bit tricky....you see BattlestarWiki has become the citation: the list was made here, because the original website messageboard it was hosted on was destroyed (GalacticaActual), and people kept asking if there was a definative list from before. I mean, multiple people involved with it were able to find e-mails that had winners lists and it exists in e-mail form, but the separate, official website was only created for the 2nd year. --The Merovingian (C - E) 13:44, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| ::Update: They in fact do exist in hard form somewhere else: this post is the old bboard thread from last October which announced the results. (This is of course, proof that I didn't just claim that people I liked won...I mean I that were the case, Cally would have beat Dualla for Best Supporting Actress).--The Merovingian (C - E) 13:53, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| :Well, my concern is that Battlestar Wiki shouldn't be the citation, since we should avoid self-references whenever possible. Thus, if you have those e-mails (and we can reprint them with permission), we can place them under Sources:Golden Toaster Awards. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 14:28, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| ::I justed pointed out in my update: the source is on that link I have to the Scifi.com messageboards. Caravaggio is the guy that runs it, and he posted the list of winners in the page linked above. --The Merovingian (C - E) 14:45, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

| == Fandom template ==
| |
| Should the NPOV tag be replaced by the Fandom template? I created the template with this page and Fan fiction in mind, but we should probably either use the template, or kill it if there's no need for it. --Steelviper 14:57, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
| |
| :Yes, the fandom template was made to address that need to remove the NPOV tag. --The Merovingian (C - E) 15:05, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

| == Reorganized and cleanup ==
| |
|
| |
| I've reorganized the article and cleaned it up a bit. I believe it reads more clearer now, and I've removed the NPOV offending exclaimations and other oddities I found in the article. Any thoughts? -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 15:35, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

| :Very good, though I think the individual awards should just have their titles bolded instead of being subcategories, because they won't be edited around that much but right now the little "edit" tabs appear next to every one. --The Merovingian (C - E) 16:10, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

| ::Ok, I've broken the award results into separate pages for each award event. This makes the main article a bit more concise. I've also done some other minor cleanup.
