Lieutenant '''Joe Palladino''', callsign "Hammerhead", was a [[Viper]] pilot on the [[battlestar]] ''[[Galactica]]''.  He was assigned to lead a detachment of [[marine]]s to the civilian cargo ship ''[[Gideon]]''.

Due to his inexperience at riot control, he was unable to maintain control of his forces and the irate civilian crowd during a food transfer.  When an unknown person fired a weapon, the marines under his command began shooting at an unidentified enemy.  Four civilians were killed during the incident.
