This article covers the various depictions of Count [[Iblis]] from the tie-in novelizations, comic books, and other media.

Iblis is one of the few pivotal "one-shot" characters never to have appeared in the Marvel comics.  

== Richard Hatch Novelizations ==

In the Richard Hatch continuation novels, Count Iblis is revealed as an ancient [[Lords of Kobol (TOS-RH)|Lord of Kobol]] and founder of the [[House of Iblis (TOS-RH)|House of Iblis]], whose origins trace back to a fraternal conflict with [[Iblis's brother (TOS-RH)|his brother]]—[[Adama (TOS-RH)|Adama]]'s distant ancestor and Council Head of the [[House of Kobol (TOS-RH)|House of Kobol]].<ref name="RES177">{{cite book/RH|3|177}}</ref> Driven by jealousy and resentment after being passed over for leadership, Iblis plotted to murder his brother and conducted horrific genetic experiments.<ref name="RES177" /> Exiled to the planet [[Cylon (planet) (TOS-RH)|Cylon]], he created the [[Cylons (TOS-RH)|Cylon race]] through a combination of human genetic splicing and cybernetic technology, instilling in them an insatiable hatred for humankind.<ref name="RES173">{{cite book/RH|3|173}}</ref> Upon death, Iblis was "accelerated" like other Lords of Kobol but his twisted soul transformed him into a unique entity—"a leech, sucking the fear and death of countless planets into himself for his sustenance."<ref name="ARM152">{{cite book/RH|1|151-152}}</ref> He exists as a dark, non-corporeal being seeking to corrupt the House of Kobol and destroy the pure-blooded descendants of his ancient enemies, particularly [[Apollo (TOS-RH)|Apollo]] and [[Athena (TOS-RH)|Athena]].<ref name="ARM265">{{cite book/RH|1|265}}</ref>

Three distinctly different representations of Iblis appear in Dynamite Entertainment's series: {{comics|vs|prose=y|sup=no}} and {{comics|folly|prose=y|sup=no}} hue closely to the [[Original Series]], while {{comics|1880|prose=y|sup=no}} presents a {{1880|Iblis|wholly separate interpretation of that character}}.

It is noted that both Dynamite's aforementioned Original Series stories have their own disparities, and are treated thusly.

In Iblis' first Dynamite appearance, he returns to unleash his plan to destroy the [[Seraphs]] by creating a [[black hole]] that transports {{alt|The Fleet|TOS}} &mdash; and {{alt|Lucifer}}'s pursuing {{alt|basestar|TOS}} &mdash; to another realm. Said realm features [[Iblis' planet|a planet]] where his pig-like brethren have been laid to rest after a disastrous end, much like the [[red planet]] [[War of the Gods, Part I|previously encountered]]. On this planet, {{alt|Cylons|TOS}} and other wayward space travelers are shipwrecked after falling through the black hole; Iblis uses the Cylons to his own advantage, creating the [[Meclons]] and bolstering their numbers by hunting down survivors of the shipwrecked vessels and repurposing their bodies {{comics|vol3|1|3}}. 

To further draw the Seraphs into the trap, he transports {{alt|Baltar|TOS-DE}} from the planet that he had been exiled to with the promise of freedom {{comics|vol3|2}}, and takes over {{alt|Adama|TOS}}'s mind {{comics|vol3|4}}. However, with the help of {{alt|Apollo|TOS}}&mdash;having wholly shunned Iblis and [[War of the Gods, Part II|been resurrected by the Seraphs]]&mdash;Iblis is cast out and the Seraphs intercede to save Iblis' victims at the expense of {{alt|Ship of Lights||their own ship}} {{comics|vol3|5}}.

Iblis returns to his failed trap of a planet, shedding his human visage and reassuming his true face, and resurrects his like-faced followers in his quest for vengeance against the surviving humans, their new Cylon friends, and the surviving Seraphs {{comics|vol3|5}}.

In Iblis' second Dynamite appearance, Iblis enters into a relationship with [[Kali]], the exiled creator of the {{alt|Cylons|TOS|robotic life that assumed her race's name and identity}}. At his bidding, Kali builds a [[wormhole]] between two different ''Battlestar Galactica'' universes (the Original and the Re-imagined) in a bid to exact revenge against {{alt|Adama|TOS}} and his Fleet. Assuming influence over {{alt|Cain|TOS}}, Iblis reunites Cain and ''{{alt|Pegasus|TOS}}'' with the two disparate Fleets in order to undermine the humans' efforts against the Cylons&mdash;however this does not go to plan as Cain is able to break Iblis' and Kali's hold over him, and thwarts Iblis' revenge bid {{comics|vs}}.

== Maximum Press comics ==

Iblis is responsible for allowing the [[Cylons (TOS alternate)|Cylons]] to follow the Colonials to [[Earth (TOS alternate)|Earth]], and his powers have increased since [[War of the Gods, Part II|the previous encounter]]. 

Iblis is indirectly responsible for slaying [[Adama (alternate)|Adama]] (although Adama himself is terminal), who stays behind on [[Adam]] and [[Eve]]'s ark to learn about the ancient Kobollian technology. This event occurs during the Cylon attack, when Adama protects Adam from being slain by [[Baltar (alternate)|Baltar]], who Iblis transports to Earth (''[[War of Eden 1]]—[[War of Eden 4|4]]'').

== Realm Press comics ==

At the dawn of the first millennium of man, Count Iblis convinces the [[Cylons (TOS alternate)|Cylon]] dictator [[Sobekkta]] to create a race of robotic creatures that would later take on the name "Cylon," after the extermination of their reptilian creators. Due to this interference and other transgressions, he is sentenced to "live only in death" for 7,000 [[yahren]] (''[[Eve of Destruction#Prelude I: Nostalgie De La Boue|Eve of Destruction - Prelude I: Nostalgie De La Boue]]''). It is after his sentence ends that he encounters the humans fleeing from the robotic Cylons and attempts to subjugate them, resulting in the events depicted in "[[War of the Gods]]."  

Amongst Iblis's powers, he is also capable of changing his appearance. To the Colonials, he appears human; to the reptilian Cylons, he appears as a green-skinned Cylon with a singular eye slit (''Eve of Destruction - Prelude I: Nostalgie De La Boue'').
