''Gemini'' is one of the [[The Fleet (TOS)|220 ships]] that flees the Colonies following the [[Battle of Cimtar]]. Formerly a freighter, many survivors fled to the ship and create tenements within the freight containers loaded in its bays.

== [[Original Series]] == 

Refugees are primarily from [[The Twelve Colonies of Man#Gemoni|Gemoni]] and are living in the ship's freight containers. The freighter is one of several ships suspected of having a [[solium]] leak, which led to the rescue of [[Cassiopeia]] and the fact that [[Sire]] [[Uri]] was greedily hoarding supplies onboard the luxury liner ''[[Rising Star]]''. It would later travel to [[Carillon]] and remain in orbit over the planet until Carillon's [[Battle of Carillon|destruction]] {{OS|Saga of a Star World}}.

{{TOS|Adama}} is forced to pay a visit to ''Gemini'' in order to attempt to woo [[Siress]] [[Belloby]] in exchange for an [[energizer]] she owns that he hopes to trade for [[agro]] supplies {{OS|The Magnificent Warriors}}.

[[Count]] [[Iblis]] plays the part of demagogue aboard ''Gemini'', promising food to the hungry masses in exchange for their support. After securing their allegiance word comes in that the [[Agro Ship]] was seeing a miraculous crop appear {{OS|War of the Gods, Part I}}.

The interior of the freighter consists primarily of storage bays with containers, although the ship does have living quarters and other compartments. 

=== Siress Belloby's Compartment ===
Unlike a majority of survivors, [[Siress]] [[Belloby]] has her own compartment outside of the container tenements, accessible through a corridor festooned with various detritus of components and equipment. She subsequently vacates the compartment upon resettling in the [[agro colony]] [[Serenity]] upon [[Sectar (planet)|Sectar]] {{OS|The Magnificent Warriors}}.<gallery>

== ''[[Galactica 1980]]'' ==

The freighter ''Gemini'' survives the journey to [[Earth (1980)|Earth]]. As news spread of their discover, [[Dillon]] walks through the ship, greeting survivors and telling them "we've made it" en route to [[Troy (1980)|Troy]]'s quarters.<ref>In the opening scenes where [[Adama (1980)|Adama]] does a voiceover telling them of children born in deep space and how [[Doctor Zee]] is a "cerebral mutation," Dillon is seen walking through the makeshift habitations from storage crates in the set previously used to depict the ''Gemini'' in "[[Saga of a Star World]]" and "[[War of the Gods, Part I]]" of the {{TOS|Battlestar Galactica|Original Series}}.</ref>

Apparently, Troy lives aboard this ship, as he is packing his personal effects, including a picture of him with his parents, [[Serina]] and {{TOS|Apollo}} ([[1980]]: "[[Galactica Discovers Earth, Part I]]").

* An identical freighter, with the same markings (including the name ''Gemini'' on the hull) is shown in the ''[[Galactica 1980]]'' episode "[[The Super Scouts, Part I]]."  It is referred to as ''[[Delphi (ship)|Delphi]]'', but this is clearly stock footage from "[[Saga of a Star World]]".
* This freighter appears in the [[Galactica 1980 4|fourth issue of the re-imagined ''Galactica 1980'']] comic book series released by [[Dynamite Entertainment]]. ''Gemini'' is referred to as a [[planetary expeditionary vehicle]] ("PEV") carrier.

=== Behind the Scenes ===

With sets being built last-minute during shooting of "[[Saga of a Star World]]," [[Richard Colla]] made use of his theater background and devised what is likely one of the most simplistic sets seen in the [[Original Series]]. 

The interior sets of the ship were filmed in Stage 12 at [[w:California|California]]'s [[w:Universal Studios|Universal Studios]], using forty-foot shipping containers stacked on top of each other and using green beds<ref>"Green beds" are industry terminology for scaffolding suspended by chains above sets, from which movie lights are mounted.</ref> for ramps.<ref name="galtv">{{cite_web|url=http://www.galactica.tv/battlestar-galactica-1978-interviews/richard-colla-galactica.tv-interview.html|title=Richard Colla GALACTICA.TV interview|date=29 April 2008|accessdate=2 June 2019|last=Egnor|first=Mike|format=|language=}}</ref>
