Colonel {{TOS|Tigh}} informs Commander {{TOS|Adama}} of incoming [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylon]] [[Raider (TOS)|Raiders]], possibly from a [[Basestar (TOS)|basestar]] encountered 10 [[Centar|centars]] prior. [[Blue Squadron]] is launched to intercept.  

As Tigh and Adama study the [[scanner]], they come to realize that they face a major attack rather than a mere combat probe. All squadrons are launched, and ''Galactica''{{'|s}} compartments are sealed to protect against hull breaches. The {{TOS|Viper}}s engage a huge number of Cylon Raiders, which are not fighting back.  The Vipers are destroying Raiders at will in numerous quantities, but two Raiders slip through the rain of Viper fire.  

One Raider heads toward ''Galactica''{{'|s}} [[Core command|bridge]], which closes its protective [[Defensive shields|shield]] in defense.  {{TOS|Apollo}} and [[Sheba]] close in and appear to destroy the Raider with laser fire. However, the destruction of the Raider occurs too close to the bridge, which suffers heavy damage with internal explosions, fallen girders, and shattered glass.  

{{TOS|Starbuck}} fails to destroy the other suicidal Raider, which successfully rams ''Galactica''{{'|s}} port [[landing bay]], causing massive explosions and damage throughout the ship, including a fire that threatens to make its way to ''Galactica'''s [[energizers]] and fuel stores {{OS|Fire in Space}}. 

== Notes ==
This is the final known battle before the [[Battle at Galaxy's Edge]], which marks one of the few offensive actions against the Cylons following the [[Battle of Cimtar]] and the later [[Battle of Gamoray]].
