Bootes was a rancher who, like most other people on Equellus, was bullied and terrorized by [[Red-Eye]], who would regularly confiscate livestock as tribute to [[Lacerta]], his boss.  Bootes lived in the ranch next to his sister [[Vella]] and her son [[Puppis]].  His sister's late husband, [[Martin]], was a [[Colonial Warrior]] who had crashed on their planet and fallen in love with his sister years earlier.  Bootes learned about Colonial Warriors from Martin on the eve of his wedding day, but Martin apparently never told Bootes about the [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylons]].  When Martin was killed by Red-Eye, Bootes became a father figure to young nephew Puppis.

When Bootes met the marooned [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]], he immediately recognized his uniform, rank, and laser; he eagerly encouraged Apollo to eliminate Red-Eye, and was angered when Apollo refused.  Later, when Red-Eye appropriated half of Bootes' herd, Bootes got drunk and rode into town in a rage.  He confronted Lacerta, who called upon Red-Eye, who shot Bootes to death.  Bootes was the last person killed by Red-Eye, before Red-Eye himself was eliminated by Apollo. ([[The Lost Warrior]])
