Craft Projects You Can Make With Old Pictures

Craft Projects You Can Make With Old Pictures

Just about everybody has extra photographs around the home. They might be photos that are duplicates of other photos you used in albums, or maybe they're photos that just didn't turn out the way you had hoped they would. They may even be photos of people you don't even know, especially if you inherited boxes of photos from relatives. How about using those photos that you do not need but cannot bear to throw away to make some special and fun crafts? You will end up with some excellent crafty results that you can use to decorate your house, or possibly even give as gifts. Placemats Made From Pictures Old photos can be used to make really interesting and decorative placemats for your table. Start off by using a placemat you've already got to trace the outline onto a slim piece of cardboard or poster board. Then, use adhesive or scrapbook "photo splits" to stick the old photos to one side of the board shape. You can organize them in any pattern you like, including a grid pattern or maybe a random collage pattern. Whenever you are finished with this stage, seal up the placemat with two pieces of transparent contact paper that are big enough to leave roughly a half of an inch extra on every side of the piece of cardboard. Sandwich the placemat between the two pieces of contact paper, being sure to seal off the two contact paper pieces carefully along the free edges. Antique Wall Artwork You may create some very fun wall art using older black and white pictures. All you have to do is pick out some images that catch your attention, and put them in some picture frames for hanging on your wall in a small grouping. Or you might even scan it into a computer and enlarge it before printing it out so your piece of artwork will be larger. You will find that this is a fantastic way to add some fashion to your home without spending very much money. Picture Box for Storage Space If you store your good pictures in photo boxes, you may use some old pictures to embellish them. Apply a collage technique to cover the whole box with old pictures, and make sure you cover the box and the top separately. Let the glue dry, and you will have photo storage boxes pretty enough to display on a shelf. Art That Will Show Your Family Tree If your photographs feature lots of family members and other relations, you may decide to make a great poster of your family tree. Use a design to create your chart, or simply figure out your own pattern. Next, fill out the details for each member in the family, and then stick pictures next to the information on each person. This is often a great way to use those group photos you might have, since you can easily use the same picture to cut out images of many people. When you are all done with this, just put the finished product in a picture frame and hang it on your wall. Decoupage Craft Projects Made From Pictures You may make some beautiful crafts when you put together decoupage and old photos. You will find full instructions for creating a number of unique crafts on the Mod Podge package. In order to prevent smearing when you put on the Mod Podge for the decoupage, just spray them with a few coats of clear acrylic spray. So keep those old pictures for a little longer. You're sure to enjoy employing them for these fun crafts.
