Battlestar Galactica Museum

Notes

I referred to the TOS Viper in the museum as a Mk. I. This is only because I couldn't think of anything else to call it and it fit perfectly. You can see it on the left in the contrast-adjusted picture here --Talos 20:04, 19 September 2005 (EDT)

The video game, of dubious canonicity, seems to support that designation. Do you think this should have a redirect from Starboard Flight Pod? --Peter Farago 20:14, 19 September 2005 (EDT)
Is it explicitly stated that Galactica only had a single squadron of Vipers still on duty? We see a full squadron destroyed in the first sortie of the miniseries, after which Galactica apparently can still field two squadrons of mixed Mk. II and Mk. VII fighters in the last combat sequence. This would make a certain amount of sense - presumably a normal battlestar has four squadrons, two in each flight pod. With the starboard pod hosting a museum, there would have been two Mk. VII squadrons in the port flight pod. --Peter Farago 20:19, 19 September 2005 (EDT)
Emphasis is "on duty"; they were out of Vipers until Commander Adama told them to refit the old Mark II's from the Museum. They may not have had any Viper Mark VII's left at that point on board; there were 40 Mark II's. ---Ricimer, 19 Sept, 2005
There were clearly several Mk. VIIs visible in that battle, and throughout the series thus far. I don't know how many Mk. IIs there were, but Adama said there was a "full squadron", which appears to mean 20 ships. --Peter Farago 20:47, 19 September 2005 (EDT)

Usage

It could have just been me, but I swore there were Vipers launching out of the flight pod during the freefall to New Caprica. Did it seem that way to anyone else or am I just assuming? --Kevin W.So say we all 14:24, 10 December 2007 (CST)

The view of the flight pod is so close that you can't actually see which side it is. It might seem that way from the camera perspective, yes, but it could be either side of the ship. --Serenity 14:39, 10 December 2007 (CST)

Early Generation Battlestar?

In looking at the photo from the episode "Daybreak Pt. 2" if you look behind the old style cylon basestar there is a section of a TOS era battlestar. Could in be possible it is a earlier generation battlestar? -- Quig 19:13, 5 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
