Documentation

This template is used to place summary information on a cast member on all Battlestar Wiki biography articles. It provides lower case parameters only.

By default, this template employs automatic categorization, thus removing the need to manually add categories to most cast articles. Should the need arise to disable it, use the nocat attribute as stated in this documentation. Doing this, however, requires that you manually add the categories to the end of the article text.

Required parameters

  • character: The character this person plays. Use <br /> to insert more than one. Please wikify the character.
  • series: The series the actor is a part of.
  • sortkey: This tells the category system where this entry should go. (For Richard Hatch, the sortkey would be "Hatch, Richard"—without quotes—thus telling the software to alphabetize by his last name.)

Optional parameters

  • image: The filename of the image. Do not include the Image: prefix.
    • size: By default, the size will be limited to 200px. If this need to be increased enter the number here.
    • credit: If you are using a copyrighted image with permission, enter it here the details of the copyright. Otherwise place the copyright on the Media Wiki image page itself the correct image tags per the Media Wiki Image tagging policy.
  • series 2: The second series the actor is a part of, if applicable. (e.g. Richard Hatch, Richard Lynch)
  • showage: Type N or n in order to hide the age of the cast member in question, in the event that the full date of birth (or death) is unknown.
  • born_month: The month number that the actor was born.
  • born_day: The day number that the actor was born.
  • born_year: The full year that the actor was born. (e.x. 1971)
  • death_month: The month number that the actor died.
  • death_day: The day number that the actor died.
  • death_year: The full year that the actor died. (e.x. 1971)
  • nationality: Uses the flag template.
    • US, UK, or others. For a full listing of possible country codes please visit IANA's Root-Zone Index
    • Earth as to indicate from the planet Earth
  • site: The official website of the actor. This field is not for fan websites or other unofficial websites. Any unofficial websites using this parameter should be removed and placed in an External links section in the article itself.
  • imdb: The ID number on their IMDB page. Include only the numbers, not the two letter prefix. (i.e. 123456 instead of nm123456)
  • nocat: Insert Y to disable automatic categorization. Typically, this is done for articles that require more complex categorization techniques, and thus the categories need to be entered in manually.
