Welcome

Welcome to the wiki! Thanks for the help on the Battlestar Wiki:Podcast Transcripts! That's an area we are falling behind on (because they just keep making more of them). I'll get on verifying it ASAP. Oh. And this wouldn't be an official greeting without the obligatory Standards and Conventions link. It appears that you already know how to datestamp(~~~~), and you are welcome to edit your user page to tell us more about you.--Steelviper 15:12, 14 February 2006 (EST)

Transcription Technique

Are you actually able to transcribe real-time? (That is to say, type it out as fast as the audio goes.) The few errors I catch are because I have to listen to each section two or three times, so I get the nitpicky stuff that I would have missed if I could keep up with the audio. Either way, it's amazing work. (And it appears to have inspired others to pitch in again, as well.) --Steelviper 23:45, 14 February 2006 (EST)

Haha, I wish... I never even learned to type 'properly'! I'm sure there are more than a few errors, every now and then I come across a word or a phrase that I can't quite make out so I just take my best guess. Thanks for the compliment anyway, although I'm sure you're just being nice. Also it's always nice to be an inspiration! --Misco 00:53, 15 February 2006 (EST)
Well, diffs don't lie. That's some pretty minor stuff. As for "proper" typing... I think it's over-rated anyway. I'm definitely an "ends justify the means" guy when it comes to typing, but that may be due to a lack of formal training myself. I'd actually love to learn to use a Dvorak or some other "optimized" keyboard layout, but I fear I would be lost if I sat down at any other keyboard after that. Well... back to work. --Steelviper 08:56, 15 February 2006 (EST)

Misco, you are insane. And fantastic. --Peter Farago 22:28, 15 February 2006 (EST)

Well, I'm not going to argue with that. ;) --Misco 03:48, 16 February 2006 (EST)

Epiphanies Complete

Hooray! Thanks for finishing epiphanies! (See? People really do read it.) Between you and Laineylain, more is getting done in the transcript department than had been done since it has existed. Thanks!--Steelviper 07:37, 14 March 2006 (CST)

Thanks for saying erm...thanks! :) I would have finished it earlier but I got behind on watching the BSG episodes (technical difficulties) and I didn't dare come near the site for fear of spoilers! But now I'm all caught up so hopefully the transcripts on this site will be up to date by the time BSG comes back on and more podcasts start getting made. October... *sigh* --Misco 14:07, 14 March 2006 (CST)

LJ And Other Things

Woohoo, Misco! How awesome is it that we found each other on the LiveJournal battlestar_blog community yesterday? Small world :) P.S. I think you're the only other female I've seen here. LOL -- Laineylain 10:57, 14 March 2006 (CST)

I know I was so surprised! I hadn't been here for nearly a month (as I said above in the reply to Steelviper) and didn't realise there was a new transcriber. Anyway as soon as I realised I just had to 'friend' you! ;) And I love the battlestar_blog community too, in fact I think I've become slightly addicted! Are we the only two girls? Haha, that's great. --Misco 14:19, 14 March 2006 (CST)

Verification

Thanks for the verification (and welcome back)! It's always encouraging to know that at least one other person has read over it carefully. --Steelviper 11:10, 14 July 2006 (CDT)

Your transcription was pretty much perfect. You should transcribe more! And I'm glad to be back - I'm gonna try and finish Colonial Day this week - sorry I disappeared for a while but RL sometimes just gets in the way. --Misco 11:21, 14 July 2006 (CDT)
I understand. Hopefully Lainey will return too! Also, you may want to try using the (free) program that's linked at the top of the Transcripts Project page. It allows you to control playback speed (I do most of my work at 60%, then one quick run-through at 100% when I'm double checking) and remembers where you left off. --Steelviper 11:42, 14 July 2006 (CDT)

Female user pic

There's no rule against it, but yours is the first female contributor user pic posted here. Don't be surprised if you end up in a future group photo. If you're interested I also do individual BSG portraits if you have a favorite character (or character type).--Steelviper 14:38, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

Oh, I'm a pioneer. ;) Hopefully I won't be the last. I'm more than happy to be put in a group photo, the one you linked to was great. As far as an individual BSG portrait goes, thanks, I'd love one! I like all the female characters / the jobs they do, so I'll leave it to your discretion what you 'cast' me as. --Misco 14:55, 16 August 2006 (CDT)
Also nice to see a photo to a name. :) Welcome! :) --Shane (T - C - E) 14:40, 16 August 2006 (CDT)
Thanks for the welcome. :) I agree it's nice to see what people really look like. I meant to put an image up ages ago but was suffering from a severe lack of pictures of myself.--Misco 14:55, 16 August 2006 (CDT)
