Ooh, i get to start something :D
Right - basically, i think it would be a good idea to have a policy for the filenames of all new uploaded screencaps. For example, the way I do screenshots is in this format: descriptivename_season&ep_resolution
That way - not only do you know what the picture is about, you know what season and episode it comes from and what the quality is like - DVD for DVD, and 720p/1080i for HD.
Just thinking it might save a lot of confusion as i've found that when it comes to upgrading some images - you just dont know what episode they come from. One particular example is the recent shot of Colonial One docking that was so small. I couldnt make out what episode it was from at all. Maybe requiring people to upload new screencaps/photo's with a particular naming format like mine (not suggesting that mines the only option of course!!) would alleviate a lot of hassle :) --Fordsierra4x4 20:07, 14 June 2006 (CDT)
- The issue with using those naming convensions is that if you update the image from a different source it would be a different name. I agree with the description_episode title but not the quality of capture source --Mercifull 03:20, 15 June 2006 (CDT)
- When I upload screenshots I use a naming format where I have the name of the picture subject and an abbreviation of the episode, eg. 2220_HoG is my picture of Viper 2220 in Hand of God while Blue_Mini is a picture of the blue duty uniform in the Miniseries. --Talos 09:41, 15 June 2006 (CDT)
- Okay - resolution wise, i'm with Mercifull on this - i hadnt realised about the replacing thing. Although who wants to replace an HD cap? ;) Still thing the description_season/epnumber would be a better way of handling images. Does anyone else think that something like this would clear up a lot of confusion?
