While the "sock-beating" does occur in Full Metal Jacket, I don't think Kubrick invented the idea of the "blanket party", which has probably been a military tradition since the inception of militaries (being something of an informal mechanism of internal discipline). --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 14:32, 20 January 2006 (EST) |
