Overview

In the original Battlestar Galactica, the 12 colonies of man were twelve worlds located deep in the galaxy, far from Earth.

In the [Re-imagined|re-imagined Battlestar Galactica]], the 12 colonies were originally located on a single world - Kobol (early draft of the Mini-Series script). However, this was later revised to 12 separate worlds, in keeping with the original concept.

It is unclear whether all 12 colonies are orbiting a single star or not, or what the name of this star might be. However, the 2003 Video Game proposed the home system for the 12 colonies is called Cyrannus. This has yet to be accepted as canon in the new television series.

This section lists the 12 colonies of man, as stated in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series.
