Overall, I think the concept of new user outreach cannot be emphasized enough. The wiki is too big for any one person (or small group of people) to manage, and the more contributors we have, the better. I know one of the things that helped me stick around was the note that Spencerian left (which I didn't even realize until later was likely copy and pasted). On a similar vein, I'd like to see us explore programs to reach out to the non-editors as well, although that is likely a topic for a different tank (I think). --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 14:54, 11 July 2006 (CDT)

This is a nice idea. Can you mock up a prototype on your proposal page? --Peter Farago 19:57, 10 July 2006 (CDT)

? BW:NEW? Can't give any implmentations, Sorry. --Shane (T - C - E) 20:04, 10 July 2006 (CDT)
Maybe you could list some of the questions you had in mind? --Peter Farago 20:17, 10 July 2006 (CDT)
My questions are not the question of subject of the proposel. I am looking for project approval. The questions can be hashed out inside the 'approced project'. Since the project is not approved, I can not give my questions which would be on the project page. Plus when I orginal created the page, I could not think of any questions. That is why they are TBD. --Shane (T - C - E) 20:28, 10 July 2006 (CDT)
I'd really like to see this idea more fleshed out before we approve it. --Peter Farago 20:41, 10 July 2006 (CDT)

Questions

  1. How did you get to this Wiki? (If it was a Search engine, which one and what were the terms.)
  2. How long did it take you to get to this Survey?
  3. What was your main reason for regestring on this Wiki? (Full Time Contributer, Project Idea, or Minor Edit. Why?)
  4. Was the main page content usefull when you first came to the site? (Have you visited it yet?)
  5. What, if any, feature has striken you has amazing so far?

Questions Reasons

Question 1: Simply put, this is how we are with visability on the web.

Question 2: See if people are reading the "Welcome" message when we first send them a message.

Question 3: Why did they sign up in the first place...

Question 4: See if the BW:MAIN page needs fixing or if the content needs to be updated more offten

Question 5: See if anything caught their interest. Project Visiability

These questions gives users no idea in what they are answering so they answer better when it's more genearl than specific, unless we are looking for something. (i.e. Question #1) Shane (T - C - E) 01:06, 11 July 2006 (CDT)

Question Thoughts

How about missing features or navigation issues? (Get a little constructive criticism maybe?) Would a link to this survey be sent in a link upon registration? --Steelviper 14:41, 11 July 2006 (CDT)

At first I would only link it from the {{welcome}} template to see if anyone runs with the idea. See if people are notcing their user pages in the first place. After we see that people are getting the link from the "Welcome", we could move it around. The idea is to have goal from different locations os we can see how the different resources are being used. New User Outreach

--Steelviper 14:54, 11 July 2006 (CDT)
