::The nice thing about the regular transcripts is that there are discrete chunks which can be subdivided. So one approach might be everybody picking an act to work on and knocking that out. That way there's no edit conflicts either (since the acts are divided by separate headers). I wouldn't be opposed to having people do whole transcripts, but having done the ones that I have I know that I'd rather do an act or two a week rather than having to do a whole episode every third week (or however it'd work out). Thoughts? --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 07:05, 11 January 2007 (CST)

So I put in some contributions without looking at the talk page first (oops).  I do think it would be easier if it were broken into chunks shorter than an hour.  I tried to include notes on the start and stop time of each chunk (since unfortunately the parts I did are not contiguous).  Also, if anyone is particularly good at identifying voices:  "???" in my transcript is always a male voice with an English accent, since Tahmoh, Ron, and Terry are pretty easy to identify. -[[User:Iphthime|Iphthime]], 2 March 2007

Transcript?

So, who wants to try and transcribe this motherfracker? --Kahran 23:53, 17 December 2006 (CST)

/me steps up to the bat - I'm on my lunchbreak just now, but I'll see if I can't get hour one done later on when I finish. -Madbrood 06:25, 6 January 2007 (CST)

Okay! So, I didn't quite imagine how much work transcribing a podcast can involve- especially one with so many participants. I've made a start (up until about 1:20!) but unfortunately I have other pressing matters to attend to at the moment, so I shall continue later, unless someone else wants to help out... -Madbrood 15:35, 6 January 2007 (CST)

That's great! Yeah, I feel your pain on the multiple participants. Crosstalk/interrupting is extremely challenging, as can be identifying who the heck is talking in the first place. I'm glad to have more transcribers on board, and we'll take whatever you'll give (pace-wise). Don't be pressured to go fast. --Steelviper 14:33, 7 January 2007 (CST)
I assume the regular podcasts are MUCH easier to transcribe than this behemoth. More to come tomorrow after I finish work :) -Madbrood 15:36, 7 January 2007 (CST)
I've got from where you've left off up to about 12:00 taken care of. --Kahran 19:21, 8 January 2007 (CST)
Awesome! Yeah, vanilla RDM podcasts are easy by comparison. The difficult seems to increase exponentially based on the number of speakers involved (having done 2, 3, and 4 person podcasts). If you're still interested after this, I'd gladly let you have a crack at some of the normal ones. Kahran's contribution is really rather inspiring. If I don't get caught up in something else, I may join in for a bit. --Steelviper 19:28, 8 January 2007 (CST)
Shane, I've transcribed up to 0:12:12 of the Roundtable, that's the point where Jamie's imitating Micheal Rymer when he's suggesting that the cast play against their tiredness while filming 33. --Kahran 22:33, 8 January 2007 (CST)
How about we take turns at this? It makes much more sense than trying to do, say, an hour at a time. If we all take ten-minute chunks, for argument's sake? And yes, I'd be interested in doing other podcast transcripts after this :) I'm a bit of a detail nerd anyway! -Madbrood 23:35, 9 January 2007 (CST)
That's all I'm doing, 10 minutes at a time, so hey, why not. --Kahran 00:21, 10 January 2007 (CST)
(Unindenting)

Before starting on a chunk you may want to mark off in the transcript the block you plan on working. Then other people can check the transcript, and if somebody else is working on the "current" block they can mark off a subsequent block to work on. 10 minute blocks! That's amazing! In normal podcasts that's roughly an act (and 10 minutes of RDM podcast is MUCH easier than this one). I usually find myself doing about 3 minutes of a time for regular podcasts (roughly chopping acts into thirds or quarters). When the regular podcasts start back up you guys are going to think it's a joke... --Steelviper 07:43, 10 January 2007 (CST)

Good idea, SV. Unfortunately, I'm going to be busy until mid-day Saturday (GMT), so if you guys want to mark off a couple of chunks, please do.
I was also thinking, how about taking turns at the regular transcripts? I have a feeling that, after the first minute and twenty of the Roundtable, a regular podcast will be a walk in the park... -Madbrood 06:16, 11 January 2007 (CST)
The nice thing about the regular transcripts is that there are discrete chunks which can be subdivided. Thoughts? --Steelviper 07:05, 11 January 2007 (CST)
I like your idea about doing an act each. That way, the whole transcript should be ready relatively quickly. -Madbrood 14:50, 12 January 2007 (CST)

-Iphthime, 2 March 2007
