With the cookie-cutter greeting out of the way, I just wanted to personally welcome you to the wiki. I've been excited to see the recent influx of prominent Scifi.com members, and hope that this will lead to new and interesting things.

Since I'm here, I was wondering if you has ever considered using wiki software for something like ''Gemicon''? I could see advantages to such a setup, as the text would flow seamlessly (no posts separating the work), the ability to easily reorganize in terms of chapters, and the ability for copyedit/typos to be done collaberatively. However, I realize there are MAJOR downsides to the wiki format, as attribution becomes a LOT less clear, the potential for people to revise sections that they ought not be revising, and the simple vandalism that wikis sometimes have to deal with. I'm not working on commission for Mediawiki, so I'm not trying to sell anything... I was just curious if anybody had considered its application here.

:Yes, new and interesting things indeed.  Hey, is it at all possible to make a "fanfic" category, just to keep track of Gemicon?  I mean, as long as it's got a category at the bottom of the screen saying "fanfic article?" No, maybe that would be too far to have a whole category, but Steelviper, could there be an expanded page describing at length (bulleted lists and so forth), sort of like what a book-article does now?  I mean at what point does a non-canon book and well-developed fanfic blur? 	::Maybe this would tie-in to that "fan" tag described over at [[Fan fiction]]. I think we'd be plenty inbounds to have a Gemicon index , maybe as a subpage off of Fan fiction. However, I'd be worried at being redundant with [http://myweb.cableone.net/bschott/Previous.html this]. Also, it appears from this that the Scifi.com servers are still the primary archive of Gemicon. I wonder if it might not be wise to move the finished episodes to a server controlled by ''Gemicon'' forces, as I have no trust of third parties to retain information (especially the Scifi.com "admin"). --[[User:Steelviper\|Steelviper]] 14:11, 7 April 2006 (CDT)
