As you may already know, Battlestar Wiki covers all the ''Battlestar Galactica'' series from past to present, in addition to authorized merchandise and [[BW:SEPCON|separate continuity]] materials such as comics and tie-in novels. '''We do not cover fan fiction.''' We're also not a discussion site, although we do have an ever-growing [http://www.battlestarforum.com Battlestar Forum] where people can discuss the various shows and non-BSG topics as well!

To get started on the wiki, we suggest that you check out our [[BW:TUT|tutorial]], experiment in [[BW:SAND|the sandbox]] (a test editing area for those learning wiki code), and review some of our basic [[BW:POL|policies]] (which have important differences from other SF wikis). == Valkyrie ==

There is only one Battlestar Valkyrie. The Galactica type Battlestar seen is unnamed. --[[User:Frylock86|Frylock86]]

::If you look at the episode, when they are travelling in the fleet they look out one side of the viper while talking about Valkyrie. All the shots are consistent in showing that there is only one battlestar on this side, the Galatica type. Thus there must be two Valkyries, one in the cylon war, and one years later of a different class. The Valkyrie types seen are un-named, the Galactica type is named "''Valkyrie''". ::::When they start off talking the Galactica type is above and to their right, by the time they stop talking about the Loki they are parallel to the Galactica types top. At no point are they to the right of any Valkyrie type and (even they there is a Brezerk class in the way at one point) they are looking in roughly the right direction for the Galactica type the entire time that they are talking about it. :::::Is there a way to just combine both ships into one page, similar to the ''[[Columbia (RDM)|Colombia]]'' page? That way we don't have separate pages for both ships. It seems odd having (Second Cylon War) written at the top. --[[User:Frylock86|Frylock86]]

::::::There definitely is, I just feel that the new one deserves its one page while the first one doesn't really. The options we have are:
::::::*Put them in the same page like Columbia (I think this would look quite messy due to not enough text to match the size of the info box for the first one and that one logically being first).
::::::*Two separate pages with ([first/second] cylon war).
::::::*The current solution.
::::::*move the second valk page back to its original name and have a dis note saying that this is the second valk and linking to either the list of battlestars #valkyrie page or to the page on the original (My preference).

:::::::::I disagreed with Phalanx-a-pedian and he is wrong. The Valkyire is not a Galactica-type Battlestar. Because when they are talking, Adama is looking up toward the Valkyrie-type that is above Raptor 909. At no time does he look to the side to where the unnamed Galactica-type Battlestar is located. The last shot we seen of the Raptor and 2 Vipers show then almost beside the Berzek, which is blocking the unnamed Galactica-type Battlestar. Then it show the cockpit and Adama is looking up and talking about the Valkyrie. I think it make more sense to assumed that the Valkyrie is the same class till evidence present it not. 

:::::::::Also, the title of the page shouldn't be Valkyrie (Second Cylon War) as the recon mission happen before the start of the Second Cylon War. Maybe it should be either Valkyrie or Valkyrie (Valkyrie-type Battlestar). {{unsigned|Allenknott3}}

:::::::::I agree with Allenknott3; I think it'd be extremely bizarre for them to put the Valkyrie model into that shot and mention it by name if it wasn't supposed to be the one seen in Hero. Although it might be very slight conjecture claiming that they're the same ship, it's even bigger conjecture to claim it was the Galactica type instead. :::::::::::According to Doug Drexler, the Valkyrie mention in B&C is the same ship as seen in Hero. He replies to my facebook message, "Hi Allen! From the VFX departments POV, Valkyrie in B&C was the ship from "Hero". It makes for a much more interesting story : )" [[User:Allenknott3|Allenknott3]]

::::::::::::I knew it had to be, with the ''Valkyrie/Yashuman'' type seen in the ghost fleet, it only made sense. Odd seeing the class in service for the First Cylon War, but it appears the Colonials have a more extensive fleet, than was first let on in the Miniseries. == Valkyrie Type Battlestar ==

Phalanx-a-pedian, during your latest revision of this article, you added the following phrase in the Flight Pod section:

''The tubes are also significantly longer then those of other Battlestars. There are three separate points that vipers could be lowered from the hanger into the tubes. It is possible that this allows for a much higher rate of launch.''

What do you mean with the "three separate points" part? Three points per tube where a Viper could be lowered into the launch tube (for a total of 9 points on each flight pod), or just one access point for each tube? If the latter, it's a bit extraneus. 	:Woops, I hadden't realised I had actually added that part. I had typed it and intended to take it out because I realised it would be slightly hard to support. Basically when you look at the underside of the pods, you can see that in addition to the back area (which is larger then necessary simply to load vipers, possibly a "staging area"), there are a couple of thicker points along the tubes that could physically hold lifts for dropping vipers in. This is all speculative though, so if you want to remove it go ahead. In case you-re interested there is also a point on either side of the head that looks very much like a Raptor pad. I'm currently investigating the class for the purposes of a fan-fic and trying to find out as much as I can about it. For example, the main guns have a barrel diameter of aprox 0.8 meters.
