Saw your post on my talk page. I went back and looked through episodes between New Caprica and the Ionian Nebula, and while Galactica takes a missile impact on her dorsal forward batteries during NC, all four batteries are shown to be intact. Even in later episodes before the Season 3 finale there are multiple shots of Galactica from above and her batteries are intact (notably during NCD2539 there's a notable shot showing all of the intact batteries). She's shown to take a missile impact at the Ionian Nebula and a shot after the battle shows a battery has been destroyed. I want to say that canonically that's where she loses the battery in question, although it would have made more sense to lose it at New Caprica since she is seen to take multiple missile impacts to her batteries.
