sillypage

UIY 1138 is Galactica Colonial shuttle dispatched to Arcta in order to destroy the Ravashol pulsar.

It is shot down by a patrol of Cylon Raiders and crashes near Deathpoint Plateau The Gun on Ice Planet Zero.
GAL 356 is a dependable Galactica shuttle in the Fleet in both the Original Series and Galactica 1980.

It can be seen in almost every episode. In fact it's such a popular ship that even Commander Cain had one just like it, which he travels on when Pegasus encounters Galactica The Living Legend, Part I!

Oh, and did you know that it can even traverse universes, as it shows up in the Re-imagined Series and in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century!

Notes
Notes
* The shuttle registry shifts between UIY 1138 and GAL 356 due to reuse of special effects from "Saga of a Star World."
* The constant occurrence of this shuttle is a regrettable result of reuse of special effects footage throughout the Original Series and its negatively-viewed direct successor. This happened due to the high cost of special effects in terms of time and money, particularly at the time both series were produced.
* UIY 1138 is a nod to the film THX 1138, as it features a letter shift. It is an Easter egg placed by Apogee, a special-effects company created by John Dykstra with a team of Industrial Light and Magic employees that produced effects for both "Saga of a Star World" and "The Gun on Ice Planet Zero."
