The Blackbird and prototype Colonial stealthstar craft may constructed by Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol. He served aboard battlestars from the age of eighteen, including Columbia, Atlantia, and Pegasus (Resistance). He has served under William Adama on Galactica for five years.he know someting about second prototype stealthstar. Why did the Cylons have one craft jump in and fire on the stealth star and then jump out, then sending two more ships to finish the attack? first attack is real cylon or another stealth craft order to provoke a war.-- mustah

:Intereesting speculation Mustah, but episode information indicates that Tyrol was trying only to make a Viper replacement. Because of material limitations, they had to use different engines (which changed the vehicle from a true fighter to a recon craft) and used carbon composites and not precious metal (which gave it the stealth abilities). It was Helo who thought of the use of composites. We have no official information that Tyrol knew of (or could conceive of building anything resembling) the Stealth Star. The Cylons did what they did to minimize intelligence on their fighters as they planned for war, and reinforces the fact that the Colonials have not seen  any Cylons for 40 years, not even a glimpse, until  the miniseries.--Spencerian 12:37, 1 December 2006 (CST)

I refer you to our discussion at Wikipedia (Star or Stealthstar) - What should it be named here? MatthewFenton 12:24, 1 December 2006 (CST)

:We've a redirect for "Stealthstar," but the source would be good to know. I suspect we used the captioning for this spelling. --Spencerian 12:29, 1 December 2006 (CST)
:As I recall, when I named the page, I merely made it so that the words were separate. To be honest, the only on-screen evidence we have is on the dradis display with the abbrieviated form (S-Star). -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 12:53, 1 December 2006 (CST)
:Adendum: Having read over the Wikipedia talk page, it occurs to me that there is an assumption that just because basestar and battlestar are not separated by spaces logically means that the stealth star must follow. While this might make superficial sense, my issue with the spelling has more to do with how the abbreviation was read on the dradis readout. (And, technically, we should probably name the article "Stealth-Star".) However, let's pose the question to BW:OC and see what the response is on it. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 13:16, 1 December 2006 (CST)
::for all we know the monitors can't render two SS' hehe, anyway would be nice to get it clarified by the Bradley guy.. :-) MatthewFenton 13:20, 1 December 2006 (CST)
Concept?
Perhaps just my own paradolea talking, but does it not appear that the Stealthstar bears a stricking resemblance to the early concept drawinghttp://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Image:Markvii-pa.jpg of the MK VII Viper?  If so, should this be mentioned?--TyliumAnalyst 03:47, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
:Maybe. But as you can see from the screenshot we have, a clear, full view of the fighter was hard to glean in the episode. --Spencerian 08:30, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
New picture of ship
In this recently released article about the Viper III in the first large picture you can see the Stealthstar in the background. Its the clearest picture of the ship so far so it could be used in this article. VARGR 15:19, 6 March 2013 (EST)

Thats fair enough. Just realised there is an actual article on that website for the Stealthstar. Lots of detailed pictures of it here VARGR 17:03, 6 March 2013 (EST)
