*We shouldn't have the battle pages put into the past tense like Spencerian did; I think it makes it harder to read. --Ricimer 15:44, 14 November 2005 (EST) | *We shouldn't have the battle pages put into the past tense like Spencerian did; I think it makes it harder to read. --Ricimer 15:44, 14 November 2005 (EST) | ||
:Ricimer, see the Verb Tense convention of the Standards and Conventions page for rationale to my changes here and on many character pages. At first I balked at this, too, but it actually aids us in having to make fewer changes on character and event pages as new events occur since a character is always an active mode object and not a passive mode--from a person watching the show, the character is doing the event (Peter phrased this point better in the conventions project discussion). Note that some things are really awkward to change, such as describing a past event in this mode, in which case you keep a past-tense voice. Again, this is what we all agreed to do by consensus per the project page. --Spencerian 16:38, 14 November 2005 (EST) | :Ricimer, see the Verb Tense convention of the Standards and Conventions page for rationale to my changes here and on many character pages.
