| Isn't it supposition that Shelly is a cylon? Technically, all we know is that, like Head Six, she is someone who has the appearance of a Number Six model cylon. However, no other known cylon has ever mentioned her or claimed to know anything about her.

| If the popular theory that she is a manifestation of Head Six is correct, then she may well not even be a cylon. It seems doubtful we will ever find out the truth about who or what Shelly really was, but I feel as though her status as a cylon is not concrete at all. --[[User:Motoki|Motoki]] 17:43, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

| I am brand new to the forum/website and have been re-watching the series after watching Caprica.

| My hypothesis about Shelly is based off her name and actions during her short time aboard Galactica. I am assuming that the writers did not simply pick names for these characters randomly and in fact encoded more meaning behind them, especially in this case.

| Has anyone heard/played a game called MAD GAB? I am very good at the game which requires you sound out weirdly ordered words to come to common phrases. When I saw her name I immediately translated her name to be: She'll a God Free.

| She'll A God Free= Shelly Godfrey (saying either phrase/name quickly makes one sound like the other and vice versa, just like Mad Gab :-)). This coincidence in her name is then further reinforced by what she accomplishes. Her intent from the get go may have seemed to frame Balthar with the picture, but as Gaeta puts it, it's almost as if she wanted to be caught.

| Her actions ultimately accomplish two things:

| (1) Get Balthar to sincerely ask forgiveness from a One True God when he kneels and prays at the bed in his cell (here I emphasize his sincerity in his moment of crisis, he wasn't just saying it to say it). Here the One True God was freed in the mind of a self described man of rationalism.

| (2) Reinforced Balthar as an individual beyond questioning in the community, elevating to the status of Savior or Guardian (a springboard for him on the path to deification in later episodes). He was from this point forward free to become a God or Messiah since he had passed his "trial by fire".

| *First its Baltar not Balthar, secondly her mission was to frame Baltar to get rid of his Cylon detector. That was shown in The Plan. Both Cavil and Tough Six believed that she did it on purpose too because she had feelings for Baltar like Caprica Six.
