I've not seen this episode, but it sounds consistent with the physics they use throughout. I noticed right away that the Vipers have an "artificial horizon", which is something that can be a whole lot more relative in space. I suppose you could calibrate it to be "level" with your launching ship, but that would require your launching ship to either not change orientation (pitch, yaw, roll), or to update all of its fighters with any changes in orientation for it to stay accurate. It seems like sometimes they couldn't differentiate between spaceflight flight through air.
