Abinell had been widowed approximately 10 weeks earlier as a result of a [[Cylon]] attack attack on a civilian ship. In the intervening time, she composed a manifesto consisting mainly of conspiracy theories regarding Cylon infiltration of the Colonial Military, leading to the destruction of the [[Colonies]]. The manifesto was released to Colonial press within [[the Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]] after she and three men took control of the ''Cloud 9'''s lounge. Convinced that the Cylons were still manipulating the Colonial Military, she demanded that Admiral [[William Adama]] hand over the copy of [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Sharon Valerii]] being held aboard Galactica. Abinell then threatened to start killing hostages if Adama did not comply. | ||
