| Born in [[w:Illinois|Illinois]], Blecker grew up in [[w:Oregon|Oregon]] who, immediately after graduating high school, joined the [[w:United States Army|United States Army]].<ref name="TSW">{{cite_web|url=http://www.thescifiworld.net/interviews/ron_blecker_01.htm|title=The Scifi World: Ron Blecker interview|date=17 June 2005|accessdate=23 February 2007|last=Nuytens|first=Gilles|format=|language=}}</ref> Blecker has an extensive military background, having served in [[w:SOCOM|Army Special Operations Command]] (USASOC), trained an an [[w:Army Ranger|Army Ranger]], in Special Forces, and trained in [[w:SWAT|SWAT]] tactics. Blecker's 15 year career in the army ended in 1998 after an accident left him unable to continue serving.<ref name="TSW"/>
