==Biography==

Born in [[w:Illinois|Illinois]], Blecker grew up in [[w:Oregon|Oregon]] who, immediately after graduating high school, joined the [[w:United States Army|United States Army]].<ref name="TSW">{{cite_web|url=http://www.thescifiworld.net/interviews/ron_blecker_01.htm|title=The Scifi World: Ron Blecker interview|date=17 June 2005|accessdate=23 February 2007|last=Nuytens|first=Gilles|format=|language=}}</ref> Blecker has an extensive military background, having served in [[w:SOCOM|Army Special Operations Command]] (SOCOM), trained an an [[w:Army Ranger|Army Ranger]], in Special Forces, and trained in [[w:SWAT|SWAT]] tactics.  Blecker's 15 year career in the army ended in 1998 after an accident left him unable to continue serving.<ref name="TSW"/>

Nearly immediately after leaving the Army, he was hired by [[w:Chris Carter|Chris Carter]] as an adviser on ''[[w:The X-Files|The X-Files]]'', as well as ''[[w:Millennium (TV series)|Millennium]]'', which he obtained after being referenced by the [[w:Vancouver|Vancouver Police Department]], having helped train their SWAT team the year prior.<ref name="TSW"/>

His work on those shows lead to the creation of Def Con 5, a company specializing in military, police and related advisory for movies, television, and other areas, furnishing actors with firearms use for realistic combat scenes. 

Blecker's has worked extensively on both ''[[w:Stargate SG-1|Stargate SG-1]]'' and ''[[w:Stargate Atlantis|Stargate Atlantis]]'' as weapons handler, adviser, and has even acted in episodes of both series.<ref name="TSW"/> He has also worked in various films, including all three of the ''[[w:X-Men|X-Men]]'' films.

== Battlestar Galactica ==

Prior to the shooting of the [[Miniseries]], Blecker held a mini boot camp to aid the cast in resembling a realistic military team. He focused on drills and other military procedures to aid in the illusion.
