Graduating from [[w:Southfield Senior High School|Southfield Senior High School]] in 1985 and from [[w:University of Michigan|University of Michigan]] in 1990, he became a stage actor in Detroit, later moving to [[w:Chicago, Illinois|Chicago, Illinois]] to develop his theatre background.
