２機のレーザー・キャノン砲を備え、翼内の爆弾倉及び翼下に取り付けたラックに爆弾を搭載できる([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II]])。２機の準光速エンジンを搭載し、宇宙空間及び大気圏内ともに飛行可能である([[The Long Patrol]])。

長距離作戦においては、燃料補給用の[[Cylon freighter (TOS)|タンカー]]を伴うことが知られている。これによって[[Basestar (TOS)/jp:ベーススター(オリジナル・シリーズ)|ベーススター]]の助けなしで長距離の準光速飛行が可能となる。このような戦術は奇襲任務では普通に用いられ、レイダーの大部隊に発見されることなく敵の防衛線を突破させることに成功している([[Saga of a Star World]])。敵に発見されやすいベーススターを伴っては不可能な戦術である。

搭乗員数の多さや潜在的な火力の大きさにも関わらず、レイダーはしばしば[[Viper (TOS)|バイパー]]に圧倒される。これはバイパーの高い機動性やパイロットである[[Warrior|コロニアル・ウォーリアー]]の技量に負う所が大きいだろう。アポロは、バイパー１機に対してレイダー１０機までならば負けない自信を持っているようで、実際にそれを口にもしている([[Saga of a Star World]])。

== Advanced A-B Raider ==

The massive A-B Raider is an advanced form of Raider. It has a crew of five, consisting of two Cylon Androids ([[Andromus]] and [[Andromidus]]) and three Centurions. Its exact offensive and defensive capabilities are unknown. It seems to possess an offensive range far greater than that of conventional Raiders (and [[Viper (TOS)|Colonial Vipers]]) as well as some form of communication jamming.

In the only recorded encounter, Captain [[Kanon]] and Lieutenant [[Britton]] discover the A-B Raider while on recon duty in a two-seat version Colonial Viper. Unable to damage it with the Viper's conventional weapons, Kanon rams the A-B Raider, crippling both craft. The A-B Raider's trajectory causes it to crash on the surface of [[Earth (TOS)|Earth]], destroying all its occupants except its Commander, Andromus, and [[Centuri|one of the Centurion pilots]]. While Lieutenant Britton is injured in the collision, the Viper manages to limp back to [[Galactica (TOS)|''Galactica'']] to report their findings on this new threat and the fact that the Cylons have landed ([[The Night the Cylons Landed]]).
