'''Playa Palacios''' is a veteran columnist with the [[Picon Star Tribune]] prior to the [[Cylon Attack]] on the [[The Twelve Colonies of Kobol|Twelve Colonoes]]. 

Originally dispatched to cover the ceremonies surrounding the decommissioning of [[Galactica type battlestar|battlestar]] ''{{RDM|Galactica}}'', she is a co-host of the new [[wireless]] current affairs program, "[[The Colonial Gang]]," working alongside fellow legitimate journalists [[James McManus]] and [[Sekou Hamilton]].

During the formation of the interim [[Quorum of Twelve (RDM)|Quorum of Twelve]] by President [[Laura Roslin|Roslin]], she is quite taken by Dr. [[Gaius Baltar|Baltar]], and gains an "exclusive" (tryst in a public bathroom aboard ''[[Cloud 9]]'') with him when Roslin asks Baltar to be her nominee for Vice President, to stand against [[Tom Zarek]].

On "The Colonial Gang," Palacios is something of a firm supporter of Laura Roslin, standing in the face of James McManus' sometimes vitriolic condemnation of Roslin's time in office {{TRS|Colonial Day}}.

Fitting her role as "one of the last legitimate journalists in the universe," Palacios sits "first-chair" in the press conference with Commander [[William Adama|Adama]] and also receives "first question" following the Commander's statement (certainly an honor for reporters). This is probably due to Playa Palacios's listenership or readership throughout the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] {{TRS|Home, Part I}}.

Palacios is the first reporter to ask if President Roslin's decision to criminalize abortion will hurt her standing in the polls, with the presidential election coming up, at which point Vice President Baltar jumps in on the question, saying that he did not agree with it and announces his own candidacy for the presidency {{TRS|The Captain's Hand}}.

Palacios' also covers the trial of [[Gaius Baltar]] {{TRS|Crossroads, Part I|Crossroads, Part II}}, and takes point on not only questioning ''[[Demetrius]]''<nowiki/>'s mission and {{Callsign|Starbuck}} involvement {{TRS|The Ties That Bind}}, but on Roslin's whereabouts following the aggressive return of Roslin's cancer {{TRS|A Disquiet Follows My Soul}}. Her fate following the events of [[Gaeta's Mutiny]] and the [[Battle of the Colony]] remain unstated.

* Christina Schild is credited as "Playa Kohn" in the episodes "[[Litmus]]," "[[Six Degrees of Separation]]" and "[[Flesh and Bone]]". It is not clear with the characters are designed to be separate individuals, the result of a simple name-change within the script, or the surname "Kohn" being her maiden or married name.  However, as she later stated her full name in dialog as "Playa Palacios" in "[[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]," this is now taken to be her official name.
*[[Sekou Hamilton]], who also appears on "The Colonial Gang" and in the press conference in "[[Home, Part I]]," is seated behind her in the press briefing room. This may signify that he is not as popular in the Fleet-wide media.
