The '''Nova of Madagon''' is a spacial location lying somewhere between [[the Twelve Colonies (TOS)|the Twelve Colonies]] and the planet [[Carillon]]. 

It is not actually a nova at all, but is a starfield of intense, blinding brightness; this "nova" also causes electronic equipment problems for smaller craft. The [[Straits of Madagon]], a passage within this area of space, were [[Cylon Mine|mined]] by the [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylons]], though these are cleared by a group of three [[Viper (TOS)|Viper]]s lead by Captain {{TOS|Apollo}} {{OS|Saga of a Star World}}.

The '''Nova of Madagon''' lies in between the path taken by {{alt|the Fleet|TOS}} during their exodus from {{alt|Twelve Colonies of Man}} and the planet [[Carillon]]. As Carillon was a "nine [[centon]]"<ref>The word "centon" is misused as a placeholder for "day" instead of "hour" in {{comics|marvel|2}}.</ref> journey via a more circuitous route, Captain {{alt|Apollo|TOS}} convinces the {{alt|Quorum of Twelve|TOS|newly-reformed Council of Twelve}} that the only way to avoid the {{alt|Cylons|TOS|Cylon}} trap at {{alt|Borallus}} was to cut through the Nova of Madagon, destroying the {{alt|Cylon mine||minefield}} that the Cylons had laid using {{alt|Viper|TOS}}s and [[laser torpedoes]] {{comics|marvel|2}}. 

The cockpits were fully covered to prevent the blindness of the three pilots—Apollo, {{alt|Boomer|TOS}}, and {{alt|Starbuck|TOS}}—while they cleared a 100 [[maxim]] wide path through the minefield to Carillon. The starfield's energies were such that the Vipers' scanners failed, and thus had to be guided by ''{{alt|Galactica|TOS}}''{{'|s}} sensor suite {{comics|marvel|3}}.
