'''Laser rifles''' are larger weapons in both the Colonials and the [[Cylon (TOS)|Cylon]]s arsenals, although they are more commonly used by [[Centurion (TOS)|Centurion]]s.

== Cylon version ==

The version used by the Cylons is wielded by Centurions and is capable of operating in all types of conditions, including cold {{OS|The Gun on Ice Planet Zero, Part I}} and damp ([[The Young Lords]]) conditions.

The notable differences between this and the Colonial version is the circular muzzle, in addition to a small, jagged {{Inlineref|bayonet}} made from a clear material.

In close-quarters combat, Cylons will use rifle bayonets against their targets, even if it would be easier to kill them by simply firing at point-blank range to already prone targets {{Comics|comic1=vol1|issue1=1|issue2=4|comic2=vol1}}. This may suggest tactics that hew more towards personal predilections than tactical expediency. 

While these bayonets are effective against humans, they are also effective at penetrating through Cylon armor {{Comics|vol1|2|4}}.{{clear}}
== Colonial version ==

The Colonial versions of these rifles do not appear to be commonly used by [[Colonial Warrior]]s, although they are kept aboard the [[Prison Barge]].

The notable difference is the the large crystal at the muzzle-end of the rifle, in addition to a sequential light at the side of the weapon, apparently indicating power {{OS|Baltar's Escape}}.
