Lanceman was an [[Eastern Alliance]] military officer on board [[Leiter]]'s [[Eastern Alliance destroyer]], and like the rest of the crew were involved with the failed effort to capture and obtain the [[Viper (TOS)|Vipers]] and their pilots ([[Greetings from Earth]]). He was eventually processed to the [[Prison Barge]], but escaped with the rest of the Eastern Alliance prisoners back to the Alliance-controlled [[Lunar colonies]] ([[Baltar's Escape]]).
