Admiral '''Jubal Sarkis''' oversaw and commanded ''{{dis|Galactica|Deadlock}}'' during its launch into the {{dis|First Cylon War|Deadlock}}, and is considered missing-in-action two weeks after ''Galactica''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> disappearance.

Sarkis' second-in-command, [[Praetor]] [[Samanta Agathon]], leads a [[Raptor]] mission to board [[Avalon]], not only rescuing Sarkis but also planting explosives on critical areas aboard the [[Cylon (Deadlock)|Cylon]] base station during the [[Battle of Marathon]] (''[[Battlestar Galactica Deadlock]]'').

Following the return of ''Galactica'' by [[Clothos]], command of that battlestar is given to [[Silas Nash]], who had been  Sarkis' closest ally since the dawn of the {{dis|Cylon|Deadlock}} rebellion on {{dis|Caprica|Deadlock}}.<ref name="loading-screen">[[:File:BSGD - Loading Screen - Silas Nash and Jubal Sarkis.png|Details from the loading screen factoid.]]</ref>

After the fall of Daidalos Shipyard and the disappearance of Lucinda Cain, Jubal Sarkis becomes the new Supreme Commander of the Colonial Fleet. Overhauling the fleet's organization and its relationship with the Quorum of Twelve, he and Nash lead the fight against the Cylons throughout the remainder of the war. 

Once the Cylon intelligence known as Atropos takes over the Cylon war effort, the Cylons inflict severe defeats on the Colonials by striking at the logistics that power the Colonial war effort. In response, Jubal Sarkis creates a plan that eventually leads into the Ghost Fleet Offensive.
