| Born in [[w:Calgary|Calgary, Alberta, Canada]], Mann later followed his career into music in the 1990s, becoming the lead singer, guitarist and co-songwriter of Spirit of the West, a Canadian alternative rock band whose biggest successes were "And if Vencie is Sinking" and "Political." In addition to fame acquired by the classic frosh week anthem "Home for a Rest," he released three solo albums in the 2000s and 2010s.
