'''John Dahl''' is a film director and screenwriter. Born in Billings, Montana in 1956, Dahl is the second of four children. He first attended the [[w:University of Montana|University of Montana]], and later attended [[w:Montana State University|Montana State University]], where he was a student of [[w:Bill Pullman|Bill Pullman]]. While studying there, he met his wife Beth Friedberg and later received a degree in film. After, he and Friedberg both attended the [[w:American Film Institute|American Film Institute]].

After starting his career as a storyboard artist and assistant director, Dahl moved on to making short films and directing music videos. In 1989 he wrote and directed his first feature film, ''[[w:Kill Me Again|Kill Me Again]]''. He also directed ''[[w:Red Rock West|Red Rock West]]'', ''[[w:The Last Seduction|The Last Seduction]]'', ''[[w:Rounders (film)|Rounders]]'', and other films between 1989 and the present.

He was asked by [[Ronald D. Moore|Ron Moore]] to direct the Season Four episode "[[The Oath]]". Originally, [[David Eick]] attempted to get [[Kevin Smith]] as the director, but due to a miscommunication between Eick and Moore, and a delay on Smith's part, the job went to Dahl.
